My rock music photographs now on t-shirts – 19 October 2011

I have teamed up with a new aspiring company Don’t Talk To Me About Heroes.  They have signed up “12 of the greatest music photographers” to produce a series of t-shirts.  So if you like my rock band photographs they are now available for you to wear through donttalktomeaboutheroes.com in amazing quality.  The website is only a few days old so have a look. Aki, who has set up this photographer’s project called me this morning to say my shot of Tom Verlaine is one of the favourite hits and selling well.  Creative Review have just done a very positive write-up and used 2 of my images in their article. Let me know what you think !

Runaways film – 29 August 2010

Flicking through the weekends glossy magazines I noticed this week’s new cinema release The Runaways.   I photographed the band, fronted by Joan Jett, in 1976 during their concert at Sheffield University.  For some reason the photograph has always attracted attention !  There have been lots of pictures of the band but I wanted to get across the relationship between the audience and the band.  I have always loved the expressions of the ogling males crammed up against the front of the stage.

The Runaways is a 2010 American biographical film about the 1970s all-girl rock band of the same name. The film was written and directed by Floria Sigismondi, who based the screenplay on the book Neon Angel: A Memoir of a Runaway by the band’s original lead vocalist Cherie CurrieDakota Fanning plays Currie, Kristen Stewart plays rhythm guitarist and vocalist Joan Jett, and Michael Shannon plays record producer Kim Fowley. The film depicts the formation of the band in 1975 and focuses on the relationship between Currie and Jett until Currie’s departure from the band.
